Medical and fascial acupuncture uses fine needles within a Western medical and musculoskeletal / fascial meridian approach. It may be offered as a standalone appointment following assessment or incorporated into osteopathic treatment where appropriate.

Your practitioner will assess whether acupuncture is appropriate and whether Integrated Osteopathy, physiotherapy or medical assessment would be a better first step or a good primary treatment combined with acupuncture

Learn more about...

At the Complementary Health Centre in Lee, we have multiple experienced osteopaths. While all treat a wide range of conditions, each practitioner brings their own interests, experience and postgraduate training. We recommend reading individual bios to find the best fit for you.

Osteopathy is not a fixed set of techniques, but a principle-based system of assessment and treatment that considers the whole person.

Rather than focusing only on the area of pain, osteopathy looks at how different factors interact, including:

  • Movement & structure – how your body moves
  • Physical capacity – strength and control
  • Daily load – work, habits and recovery
  • Nervous system sensitivity – how reactive your system is
  • Health factors – injuries and medical background
  • Stress & internal load – body–mind interaction

“When your body, mind, and nervous system work in better coordination, movement becomes easier, strain is reduced, and recovery is more efficient.”

Treatment is always tailored to the individual. Depending on what is most relevant for you and what your body can tolerate, this may include:

  • Hands-on osteopathic treatment
  • Gentle cranial approaches
  • Rehabilitation and exercise-based support
  • Medical or fascial acupuncture
  • Nervous system and recovery-focused strategies

We also aim to help you understand your problem, why it has developed, and what will move things forward. This may include guidance on movement, exercise, breathing, workload, recovery, and other practical strategies to support long-term improvement.

Osteopathy is widely recognised for its role in managing low back pain, but may also be helpful for a broad range of musculoskeletal and related conditions, such as:

Chronic pain isn’t always just about the body. For many people, ongoing pain and other long-lasting symptoms are influenced by how the brain and nervous system have learned to protect us. SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association) Mindbody Osteopathy combines hands-on osteopathic care with proven mindbody approaches.

Instead of focusing only on structural issues, we help you understand how stress, emotions, past experiences, and nervous system patterns can amplify pain and keep the cycle going. Through education, gentle movement, and strategies to calm and re-train the nervous & pain belief system, we aim to reduce fear, improve resilience, stress capacity, and help you return to a fuller life.

This approach does not dismiss your pain as “all in your head.” Your symptoms are real — and so is your potential to recover when we address both physical and mindbody factors together

Cranial Osteopathy is a refined and subtle type of osteopathic treatment to encourage the release of tension in the body. This is accomplished by the application of gentle pressure to the head and body and it is suitable for people of all ages, including babies and children. This approach can also be used when treating joint and back pain resulting from postural changes and softening ligaments associated with pregnancy.

Cranial Osteopathy is a safe and gentle treatment suitable for children and babies. Such gentle manipulation could help soothe and relax babies and is often recommended after birth.

Gentle, targeted osteopathic care for the voice and the structures that support it.

Your voice relies on a complex team: your diaphragm, ribs, neck, jaw, tongue, and the tiny muscles around your larynx. When any part of that system tightens or compensates, the voice can feel strained, restricted, or less reliable.

Voice Osteopathy uses hands-on techniques to improve mobility in the areas that influence breath, resonance and vocal ease.
It is suitable for singers, teachers, performers, public speakers, call-centre workers, or anyone whose voice feels tired or “stuck.”

What to expect

A session includes:

  • A brief case history

  • Assessment of breathing mechanics, posture, jaw/neck mobility

  • Gentle hands-on treatment to improve movement and reduce unnecessary tension

  • Simple take-home strategies to support your voice day-to-day

This is not speech-and-language therapy. It’s physical, osteopathic support for the structures that make the voice work.

Medical & Fascial Acupuncture – Integrated Pain and Recovery Treatment

This approach blends medical acupuncture, fascial meridian techniques from Tuina therapy, and nervous system acupuncture focusing on vagal regulation.

It’s suitable for most conditions osteopathy would address — including muscle or joint pain, stiffness, sports or postural injuries, scar tissue restriction, and chronic tension patterns.

Rather than treating points in isolation, Kathi works through the fascial and neural connections that link the body into one responsive system. The treatment helps restore healthy movement, circulation, and parasympathetic balance — easing both physical discomfort and stress-related tension.

Physiotherapy is a science-based treatment available at the Complementary Health Centre in Hither Green designed to help restore movement and function if you are affected by injury, disability or illness.

It takes a whole person approach to health and wellbeing, including your activities and general lifestyle.

Physiotherapy may help, adults, the elderly or disabled , pregnant women as well as athletes.

Our physiotherapist, Kelly,  will use a variety of techniques including massage techniques, movement, exercise, education and advice.

Get in contact today and our expert team will advise you on how to proceed. We look forward to helping you on your journey!

Do you feel you’re going round and round in circles?

Are you overwhelmed with how you feel?

Talking things over with an understanding, trained Counsellor, Coach or Psychotherapist will support you to clarify your thoughts and feelings, make decisions and if necessary make major changes in your life. Our aim is to offer you a safe, confidential space and an opportunity to work towards living in a more satisfying way.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation, focused attention and carefully chosen suggestions to help you explore thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour in a calm, supportive setting.

How does it work?

By helping you enter a deeply focused and relaxed state, hypnotherapy may make it easier to engage with new perspectives, responses and ways of thinking.

What should I expect?

You are not asleep or unconscious. You remain awake, aware and in control throughout the session. You can speak, move, reject any suggestion or stop at any time.

Important information

Hypnotherapy cannot make you act against your wishes and results vary between individuals. It does not replace medical or mental health treatment when this is required.

Counselling

Counselling offers a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships or a particular difficulty you are facing.

How does it work?

Your counsellor listens with care and helps you understand your experiences, recognise patterns and consider what might support you moving forward. You remain in control of what you discuss and the direction of the sessions.

What should I expect?

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. Counselling may focus on a specific concern over a shorter period or continue for longer, depending on your needs.

Important information

Counselling is confidential within professional and safeguarding limits. It cannot guarantee a particular outcome and is not an emergency or crisis service.

Integrative Couselling/Reiki

Integrated counselling and Reiki combines talking therapy with a period of calming, hands-on or hands-off Reiki within one 90-minute appointment.

How does it work?

Counselling gives you space to explore what is happening in your life, understand emotional patterns and work through difficult thoughts, feelings or experiences.

Reiki offers a quieter, body-focused part of the session, allowing time to pause, settle and notice what you are experiencing beyond words.

The balance between counselling and Reiki is flexible and can change depending on what feels most helpful to you during each appointment.

Who might this suit?

Integrated counselling and Reiki may suit you if you:

  • Feel overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted
  • Find it difficult to express everything through talking alone
  • Experience stress or emotions strongly within your body
  • Would like therapy to include mindfulness, breathwork or body awareness
  • Want more time and space than a standard counselling session provides
  • Are interested in combining talking therapy with a gentle complementary practice
What should I expect?

Each session is adapted to you. You do not need any previous experience of counselling, Reiki or meditation, and you remain in control of what is included.

Reiki can be offered with or without physical contact according to your preference. You remain fully clothed throughout.

Important information

Reiki is a complementary relaxation practice. It is not used to diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions and does not replace appropriate medical care. Within these sessions, it is offered alongside professional counselling as an optional part of a broader therapeutic approach.

Hand therapy is a specialised area of occupational therapy that focuses on assessing and supporting people with conditions affecting the hands, wrists, and forearms. It combines knowledge of anatomy, function, and rehabilitation to help restore movement, strength, and everyday use. Hand therapy may be useful following injury, surgery, or conditions such as arthritis, tendon or nerve problems, or repetitive strain. The goal is to improve comfort and function so you can get back to daily activities with greater ease.

Good foot health is something we know is very important and at The Complementary Health Centre we have a long-established podiatry clinic.

Healthy feet are especially important for people with other health problems such as diabetes, poor circulation or rheumatism. These problems can make self-treatment, even cutting your own nails, difficult. You do not need a doctor’s referral to see a podiatrist.

Most people have foot problems at some time in their lives, and many of these can be helped by chiropody / podiatry treatment.

Foot Health Practitioners provide routine and preventative care — including nail trimming, hard skin and corn reduction, verruca treatment and general foot comfort treatments. These sessions maintain healthy feet between podiatry visits but do not include medical diagnosis or HCPC-level treatments.
