About me

Professional Background

Richard is an experienced Podiatrist who qualified with Honours from the London Foot Hospital in 1996. He treats a wide range of medical foot problems and has specialist expertise in foot and ankle biomechanics, walking and running problems, and the prescription of bespoke orthotics.

Further postgraduate training in soft tissue surgery and sports medicine allows Richard to take a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to foot health, mobility and physical performance.

How Richard Can Help

You may benefit from an assessment with Richard if you are experiencing:

• Persistent or recurring foot or ankle pain • Pain when walking, running or exercising • Changes or deterioration in the way you walk • Sports-related foot and lower-limb problems • Problems that have not responded to previous treatment • Concerns that a foot problem may be contributing to pain elsewhere • Recurrent corns, calluses or other chiropody problems • Nail or skin conditions affecting the feet • A need for specialist orthotic assessment or prescription

Biomechanics & Orthotics

Richard specialises in assessing how the foot and ankle function during standing, walking, running and sport. Where appropriate, he can prescribe bespoke orthotics — individually designed in-shoe supports intended to improve foot function and help manage pain or problems with movement.

A new patient assessment allows Richard to fully examine the problem, establish a diagnosis, discuss the available options with you and agree an appropriate treatment plan and prognosis.

Treatments & Services

Richard's work ranges from routine and localised foot care through to more complex podiatric assessment and management, including:

• Chiropody and routine foot care • Nail and dermatological foot problems • Foot and ankle biomechanics • Bespoke orthotic prescription • Walking and gait assessment • Running and sports-related problems • Surgical consultations • Strengthening and corrective exercise programmes

A Wider Approach to Foot Health

Richard believes that comfortable, pain-free walking is an important part of maintaining general health, mobility and normal musculoskeletal function. Rather than simply treating a recurrent foot problem repeatedly, he aims to identify whether there may be an underlying structural or functional reason for it.

Where a problem involves more than podiatry alone, Richard works collaboratively with other practitioners at CHC Lee and, where appropriate, with NHS services and other specialists to help patients access the right care.

Whether you need straightforward foot care, are concerned about changes in your walking, or have a complex problem affecting your mobility or sporting performance, Richard welcomes you to his Podiatry Clinic at CHC Lee.
