Acupuncture has been practiced in eastern countries for 2,500 years. It is a traditional form of Chinese Medicine based on the theory that our body’s motivating force (Chi) moves through a network of channels that run beneath the skin, and that illness arises due to blockages in the energy flow. Acupuncturists insert fine needles into points along the channels in order to re-balance the body’s energy, with the aim to restore health and a feeling of wellbeing. Treatment may also include the use of Moxibustion or infrared heat lamps.
At the Complementary Health Centre here in Lewisham, we can offer you a wide variety of massages, both for rehabilitation and wellbeing.
Massage triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. It can be both relaxing or stimulating, depending on your needs. The techniques used, help release congestion and eliminate harmful toxins which in turn aids circulation. This brings rejuvenation of the cells resulting in healthy tissue.

Feldenkrais is a wonderful method to help you improve your range of movement, your posture and breathing. It was created by physicist, engineer and first Judo black belt in Europe Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984).
Reoccurring pains, stiffness and not feeling comfortable in your own body equate to limitation of movement and lack of freedom in the joints and muscles. Feldenkrais brings more freedom of movement and balances body and mind, so improving your feeling of wellbeing.
Feldenkrais takes a non-invasive approach and is easy to both understand and apply, regardless of your current restrictions
You can experience a Feldenkrais treatment at The Complementary Health Centre both in a class or individually. The classes are simply structured and students are given time to explore movements in their own pace to develop ease and freedom towards greater complexity. Students tell us the lessons are very calming and relaxing and have a very powerful effect on the body and mind even much later after the session.
If you’d like to find out more, go to the Feldenkrais website . Go to our Feldenkrais teachers’ page to find out more about their classes.
