Background
My yearning to be a doctor/surgeon changed after a chance visit to The British School of Osteopathy in the early 70s.
I graduated from the BSO in 1976 and went on to practise in central London, Kent, Buckinghamshire and Cambridge over the next 10 years.
I returned to BSO as a Clinical Tutor from 1977–1982.
Experience at The Complementary Health Centre
I have been working at The Complementary Health Centre in Lee as an Osteopath for 35 years, and have taught Pilates/Remedial Exercise classes in our studio for 26 years.
My passion for exercise and injury prevention has helped patients and non-patients improve posture, strength and flexibility, reducing the likelihood of symptoms recurring.
An interest in dance led to roles at The Urdang Ballet School (1986–1988) and Laban School of Dance (2011–2013), where I assessed young dancers and developed a deep interest in foot mechanics and their importance for overall posture.
Voice Clinic & NHS Work
I began working within the NHS 6 years ago with the Lewisham Hospital Voice Clinic as part of a small team of ENT surgeons and speech therapists.
Osteopathic treatment of the neck and larynx can help with vocal dysfunction or after laryngeal surgery.
Singers, actors, teachers, and anyone with speech or swallowing issues can benefit from laryngeal osteopathy.
Clinical Focus
Patients seek treatment for a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints — acute and chronic joint injuries, degenerative and acute disc issues, and post-surgical rehabilitation (including joint replacements).
Assessing, diagnosing and treating people holistically has always been immensely rewarding.
Preventing further injury through gentle Pilates and postural awareness remains a key part of my approach.
Community Links & Personal Interests
Having lived in Blackheath for 35 years, I have established strong links within the community and with local GPs and consultants.
My interests include walking and gardening.
